Klara’s Truth will now be coming out in three-and-a-half weeks. I can’t believe it! So much goes into writing a debut novel, particularly when coming from a different professional background.

There is a large, long learning curve that needs to occur, first in the writing and editing process, then in finding a home for one’s book, and finally in marketing it. I don’t believe any author goes into this field thinking they’re looking forward to the huge task of marketing their book when it is due to launch. While this is why writers often hire publicists and social media gurus, there’s still much that authors must do. While writing a book and getting it published is not for the weak of heart, neither is launching that book and getting the word out about it.

So many people have helped me along the way from a developmental editor, to copy editors, to my publisher, along with old friends and new ones, through She Writes cohort authors who have kindly read my book and given helpful feedback, and I am so appreciative and grateful. There has always been much that has been out of my hands which parallels life itself. We can plan as best we can, and then other forces impact us— sometimes positive ones we welcome and other times unforeseen ones we don’t, but I believe we must try to graciously accept them all for what they are and move forward. Sometimes surprisingly good things can even come out of something that on the surface seems quite problematic, such as getting support from one’s cohort authors and making stronger connections with them. This was certainly my experience.

Next week I will be giving a two-minute webinar presentation to an online audience of approximately three-hundred Jewish Book Council, (JBC), judges from around the United States and Canada’s Jewish Community Centers, (JCC’s), and synagogues. They will be determining which authors they choose to present as a part of their programming throughout the year. I have recently had two half-hour practice sessions with a JBC representative, and attended a virtual seminar about the technical aspects of presenting. I’m really looking forward to this!

I am delighted that JBC just chose Klara’s Truth as one of their highlighted recommended eleven books for summer reading.

Once again, thank you all so much for your support along the way. I’m looking forward to my upcoming book events in June which are listed under my events and hope to see you there.
